Detailed itinerary
- 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
Namaste, and welcome to Nepal. You land in Kathmandu, a city of temples. Kathmandu carries the narrow alleys, where the air and prayer bells echo softly. The Himalayas are not visible yet, but you can already feel their presence. Tonight, you rest in the capital and prepare for the adventure ahead.
- 2
Kathmandu Excursion and Trek Preparation
Kathmandu is a city of art and culture, and you have the opportunity to explore a few world heritage sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath Stupa, and the local (Ason) market will be on your list to explore. After lunch time, final trek discussion and trekking gear list review, last-minute gear shopping will be available in Thamel before packing. An Evening dinner with a cultural performance makes you more familiar with Nepalese culture.
- 3
Lukla Arrival by Flight and Trek to Phakding
Our adventure begins with a short yet unforgettable flight to Lukla, as if flying straight into the arms of the Himalayas. While the air and hills are alive with prayer flags, we begin walking beside the Dudh Koshi River, crossing swaying bridges and passing through tiny villages, until we reach Phakding, where the river lulls us to sleep under a sky of stars.
- 4
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Today, the trail steepens. Pine forests open to glimpses of white peaks. Suspension bridges swing high above rushing rivers. After hours of steady climbing, we arrive at Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital, where markets buzz, bakeries glow warm, and the mountains look on like guardians. Life here feels humble, yet surrounded by breathtaking beauty.
- 5
Acclimatization in Namche (3,440 m)
We pause to listen to the wisdom of altitude. A gentle hike takes us to the Everest View Hotel, where, if the skies are kind, Everest herself reveals her face, surrounded by Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Returning to Namche, we feel stronger, a little more a part of this high Himalayan world.
- 6
Journey from Namche Bazaar to Debuche
The trail winds along ridges with sweeping vistas. Mani stones carved with prayers line our path, and yak bells echo through the valleys. We pass Tengboche Monastery, its golden roof glinting against the deep blue sky, before descending to Debuche, a quiet village nestled in the forest and surrounded by prayer flags.
- 7
Trek from Debuche to Dingboche
The air grows thinner, the mountains draw closer. Rivers carve deep valleys, and stone-walled fields stretch across the land. In Dingboche, peaks surround us like a crown: Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and giants beyond. The world here feels both infinite and intimate.
- 8
Acclimatization in Dingboche
We climb higher still to Nangkartsang Peak, which rises above 5,000 meters. From here, the panorama stretches wide: Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and countless unnamed guardians of snow. Returning to Dingboche, we carry strength in our lungs and lightness in our hearts.
- 9
Ascent from Dingboche to Lobuche
The path winds past memorials built in honor of climbers who once dreamed of climbing Everest. Stone chortens and fluttering prayer flags tell stories of courage and loss. The trail rises, the wind grows colder, and by evening, we reach Lobuche, a small settlement where the mountains seem almost within reach.
- 10
Passage to Everest Base Camp and Gorak Shep
This is the day. The trail is rocky, the air thin, but each step is filled with anticipation. At last, we stand at Everest Base Camp (5364m), where legends begin their climbs. The Khumbu Icefall gleams like a frozen river, prayer flags dance against the sky, and though Everest hides her summit, her presence is everywhere. That night in GorakShep, the last settlement, you rest with a heart forever changed.
- 11
Kala Patthar Summit and Return to Pheriche
Before dawn, we climb Kala Patthar (5550m). As the first rays of the sun touch Everest, she glows gold, joined by Nuptse, Pumori, and Ama Dablam. It is one of the most breathtaking sights on Earth. With this vision etched in memory, we descend to Pheriche (4200m), where lower air and warm meals welcome us.
- 12
Return from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
The path now winds downward. Oxygen returns, forests thicken, and villages come alive with laughter. By evening, we are back in Namche Bazaar, a place that now feels like an old friend, filled with comfort and memory.
- 13
Descent to Lukla
The descent continues, across rivers and valleys, until we return to Lukla. Here the walking ends, and we rest where our journey began, reflecting on the miles behind us.
- 14
Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
A final flight takes us away from the mountains. In minutes, the white giants fade into clouds, and Kathmandu embraces us once more with its vibrant streets and timeless spirit. The body returns, but the soul lingers high in the Himalayas.
- 15
Farewell and Departure
Your journey ends as it began in Kathmandu. After breakfast, you make your way to the airport. Yet something remains with you forever: the rivers that sang, the glaciers that glistened, the prayer flags that danced, and the sight of Everest rising eternal into the sky. The trek may be over, but the Himalayas will live on in your heart. Thank you for choosing Real Himalaya.
