Detailed itinerary
- 1
Arrival in Kathmandu at Tribhuvan International Airport
Namaste and welcome to Nepal! As you step into the Kathmandu Valley, the city greets you with the scent of incense, temple bells, and vibrant energy. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel, where you can rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
- 2
Fly to Lukla and Descend towards Phakding
An early morning flight carries you into the heart of the Himalayas. Lukla’s airstrip clings to the mountainside, a thrilling beginning to your trek. From here, we walk along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges lined with prayer flags, until the quiet village of Phakding welcomes us beside the rushing waters.
- 3
Ascend to Namche Bazar via Phakding
The trail climbs through forests of pine and rhododendron. We cross the famous Hillary Bridge and begin the steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. As you arrive, the vibrant Sherpa capital unfolds like an amphitheater across the hillside, filled with markets, bakeries, and vibrant life.
- 4
Acclimatization in Namche Bazzar
Today, we rest and adjust to the altitude. A short hike to the Everest View Hotel rewards us with our first clear sight of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. Later, we wander through Khumjung village, home to Hillary’s school and a legendary monastery
- 5
Moving towards the Debuche from Namche Bazzar
We trek along ridges with constant views of Ama Dablam before descending to the river and climbing again. The day ends at Debuche, a peaceful settlement close to Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual heart of Khumbu.
- 6
From Debuche, Trek to Dingboche
The path leads through Pangboche, the highest year-round Sherpa settlement, then into the wide valley of Dingboche. Stone walls protect the fields, and yaks graze beneath towering peaks.
- 7
Acclimatization in Dingboche
We take a short hike up Nangkartsang Peak (5,083 m), where the panorama includes Island Peak, Makalu, and Ama Dablam. This day helps our bodies prepare for greater heights.
- 8
Trek to Lobuche from Dingboche
The air thins as we walk past memorial cairns for fallen climbers. The Khumbu Glacier appears nearby, and the village of Lobuche rests quietly under immense white peaks.
- 9
From Lobuche, Moving towards Everest Base Camp and Trek to Gorak Shep
This is the legendary day. We trek across moraine and ice to reach Everest Base Camp, where climbers from across the world gather to chase their dreams. Colorful tents scatter the glacier beneath the mighty Khumbu Icefall. After soaking in this moment, we return to Gorak Shep for the night.
- 10
Hike to Kala Pathhar from Gorak Shep and Descend to Dingboche
Before dawn, we climb Kala Patthar. As the sun rises, Everest glows gold, surrounded by Nuptse, Pumori, and Ama Dablam. This view is one of the greatest in the world. Later, we descend back to Dingboche.
- 11
Trek to Chukhung via Dingboche
A short and scenic walk takes us deeper into the Imja Valley, where Chukhung nestles beneath glaciers and sheer cliffs.
- 12
From Chukhung, Ascend to Island Peak Base Camp
Today, we enter the climber’s world. The trail ascends to Island Peak Base Camp, set against icy walls and ridges that glisten in the sun. Tonight, we sleep under canvas, preparing for the climb.
- 13
Summit Island Peak and Return to Chukhung
Our biggest day begins before dawn. With ropes, crampons, and headlamps, we ascend snow slopes and icy ridges until we reach the summit of Island Peak – standing tall at 6,187 m. From here, the panorama of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Baruntse, and Makalu is beyond words. We descend back to Chukhung, weary yet triumphant.
- 14
Spare Day (for weather or flexibility)
If weather delays the climb, we will use this day for another attempt at the summit. If the climb is already successful, this day can be enjoyed elsewhere on the trail or in Lukla.
- 15
Descending from Chukhung to Kyangjuma
The trail descends steadily through familiar landscapes, with Everest and Ama Dablam often in sight. We rest at Kyangjuma, a peaceful hamlet above the valley.
- 16
From Kyangjuma, Moving towards Namche Bazaar via Khumjung
We walk through Khumjung, where old traditions live on, before returning to Namche. The village now feels familiar, its lively markets and warm tea houses a welcome comfort.
- 17
Descend to Lukla
The final trek brings us down through forests, across swinging bridges, and past quiet villages until Lukla greets us once more. The circle is complete.
- 18
Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
We take a short flight back to Kathmandu. The bustling city contrasts with the stillness of the high Himalayas. You can rest, shop, or celebrate your Himalayan achievement.
- 19
