Arrival in Kathmandu at Tribhuvan International Airport
Namaste and welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you are greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel in Thamel, the heart of Nepal’s mountaineering culture. Streets bustle with climbers, gear shops, and prayer flags swaying above alleyways. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with Nepali cultural performance, meeting your climbing leader and fellow expedition members.

Expedition Preparation & Kathmandu Sightseeing
These two days are dedicated to final preparations. Permits for the Lhotse expedition are processed, gear is checked, and logistical briefings are held. Guided sightseeing introduces you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath giving blessings before you enter the high mountains. Evenings are free for shopping or rest in Kathmandu.

Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840 m) and Trek to Phakding
A thrilling mountain flight carries you to Lukla, the gateway of the Everest region. The trek begins with a gentle descent through forests, across suspension bridges draped with prayer flags. Passing small Sherpa villages, you arrive at Phakding, a riverside settlement where you spend your first night in the Khumbu.

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
The trail follows the roaring Dudh Koshi River, crossing high suspension bridges. The path climbs steeply through pine forests before entering Namche Bazaar, the bustling Sherpa capital. Surrounded by towering peaks, Namche is alive with markets, lodges, and mountaineers preparing for expeditions.

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar
A rest day to adapt to the thin air. Short hikes to Everest View Hotel or nearby ridges provide magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. In Namche, you explore monasteries, museums, and markets while giving your body time to acclimatize.

From Namche Bazar, Trek to Tengboche
The trail ascends gradually along ridges with breathtaking Himalayan views. Descending to the Imja Khola River, you cross a suspension bridge and then climb steeply into Tengboche, home of the famous Tengboche Monastery. Here, monks chant prayers beneath golden statues, blessing climbers heading for the mountains.

Ascending towards Dingboche
The path descends through forests before crossing the river and climbing into alpine terrain. The valley widens, framed by Ama Dablam and Lhotse’s ridges. You arrive in Dingboche, a windswept settlement surrounded by stone walls that protect potato fields.

After a day of Acclimatization, Ascend to Lobuche from Dingboche
The trail climbs gradually past memorials dedicated to mountaineers who lost their lives on Everest and Lhotse. Surrounded by glaciers and towering peaks, you arrive in Lobuche, a small settlement of stone lodges and a staging point for expeditions.

Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
To prepare for higher altitudes, you hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,100 m) or nearby ridges. Views of Makalu, Lhotse, and Island Peak reward your effort. Returning to Dingboche, you rest and enjoy the hospitality of this highland village.

Trek to Gorakshep and continue to Everest Base Camp
Today you reach Everest Base Camp, which is also the base for the Lhotse expedition. Passing rocky moraines and the Khumbu Glacier, you arrive at Gorak Shep for a short rest before continuing to the legendary Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). Here, colorful tents sprawl across the moraine, prayer flags flutter, and the icy Khumbu Icefall looms above. This becomes your home for weeks ahead.

Base Camp Rest, Puja Ceremony & Training
Several days are spent acclimatizing and preparing. A Puja ceremony is performed by Sherpa lamas, blessing the climb. Sherpa guides establish camps higher on the mountain, while you rest, train, and practice climbing techniques on ice. Base Camp life includes team bonding, strategy briefings, and waiting for weather windows.

Climbing Period : Lhotse
The climbing phase begins. Using the same route as the Everest expedition until Camp III, the ascent of Lhotse is challenging and technical. ● Camp I (6,065 m): Reached after crossing the dangerous Khumbu Icefall, a maze of seracs, ladders, and crevasses. ● Camp II (6,400 m): Located in the Western Cwm, a vast glacial valley beneath Lhotse’s icy walls. ● Camp III (7,162 m): Established on the steep slopes of the Lhotse Face, reached via fixed ropes. ● Camp IV (7,850 m): The final camp before the summit push. Summit Day (8,516 m): Beginning at midnight, climbers ascend the steep Lhotse Face and the notorious Lhotse Couloir, a narrow icy gully that leads directly to the summit. After 8–10 hour

Return to Base Camp
After the summit, you descend through the high camps to Base Camp. The sense of achievement is profound as you rest, celebrate with your Sherpa team, and prepare for the trek back.

Trek from Base Camp to Pheriche
Leaving Base Camp, you retrace your steps along the Khumbu Glacier before descending into lower altitudes. At Pheriche, the air feels warmer and richer in oxygen, offering welcome relief after weeks at high altitude.

From Periche, Descend to Namche Bazaar
Descending through Pangboche and Tengboche, you return to Namche Bazaar. The colorful town feels vibrant after the isolation of high camps, with bakeries, cafés, and markets welcoming climbers back.

Return Back to Lukla
The final trekking day follows the Dudh Koshi River back to Lukla. You reflect on your journey, from Kathmandu’s temples to the summit of Lhotse, one of the greatest mountaineering achievements.

Fly to Kathmandu from Lukla
A morning flight carries you back to Kathmandu. Returning to your hotel, the comfort of the city feels luxurious. In the evening, a farewell dinner celebrates the success of the expedition, with Sherpas and teammates sharing stories of the climb.

Final Departure from Kathmandu
After breakfast, transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey. As your plane rises above the Himalayas, you bid farewell to Nepal carrying memories of the Mount Lhotse Expedition: the Khumbu Icefall, the Lhotse Couloir, Base Camp camaraderie, and the glory of standing on an 8,000 m Himalayan summit.
