Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft)
Namaste and welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport , you are greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel in Thamel, the vibrant heart of Kathmandu. The lively streets filled with trekking shops, colorful prayer flags, ancient temples, and the distant silhouette of snow-capped peaks prepare you for the adventure ahead. In the evening, meet your trekking guide for a briefing about the Pikey Peak trek and final preparations. The rest of the day is free to explore Kathmandu's ancient streets and temples.

Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap by Bus
An early morning departure takes you on a scenic drive to the Solu region. The road winds through the middle hills of Nepal, passing through traditional villages, terraced farmland, and alongside river valleys. You travel through Lamosangu and Jiri , following the historic route used by early Everest expeditions before the Lukla airstrip was built. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic as you climb higher into the hills. Lunch is taken at a roadside restaurant along the way. By late afternoon, you arrive at Dhap (2,850 m) , a small village at the trailhead for the Pikey Peak trek. The mountain views from here hint at the spectacular panoramas ahead.

Trek from Dhap to Jhapre
Your trekking adventure begins! The trail winds through beautiful forests of rhododendron, pine, and juniper, with occasional clearings offering views of the surrounding hills and distant peaks. You pass through small Sherpa settlements where traditional ways of life continue largely unchanged. The path climbs and descends along ridges and through valleys, offering varied terrain and scenery. Lunch is taken at a teahouse along the way. By afternoon, you reach Jhapre (2,815 m), a quiet village with comfortable teahouse accommodation. As the sun sets, the first glimpses of the Himalayan giants may appear on the northern horizon.

Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base Camp
Today's trek climbs steadily toward Pikey Peak, gaining significant altitude as you approach the summit ridge. The trail passes through increasingly sparse vegetation, with rhododendron forests giving way to alpine meadows and juniper scrub. Views of the surrounding peaks expand as you gain altitude, and on clear days, the snow-capped Himalayan giants begin to dominate the northern horizon. Lunch is taken along the way with mountain views. By afternoon, you reach Pikey Peak Base Camp (3,640 m) , located near the summit ridge. The teahouse here offers basic but comfortable accommodation with spectacular sunset views. Rest well for tomorrow's early morning summit attempt.

Summit Pikey Peak and Trek to Junbeshi
The highlight of your trek! An early morning start (typically 4-5 AM) takes you up the final climb to Pikey Peak summit (4,065 m) in time for sunrise. The steep but manageable trail takes 1-2 hours, and the effort is rewarded with one of the most spectacular panoramas in Nepal. As the sun rises, the entire Himalayan range is illuminated, from Kanchenjunga (8,586 m) in the east through Everest (8,849 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,485 m), Cho Oyu (8,188 m) , and countless other peaks to the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri in the distant west. Trek from Junbeshi to Phaplu
The final trekking day takes you through the picturesque Solu valley to Phaplu. The trail winds through beautiful forests, past traditional villages, and across terraced farmland. You may encounter local farmers, monks, and villagers going about their daily lives. The route offers continued views of the Himalayan peaks to the north. Lunch is taken at a teahouse along the way. By afternoon, you arrive at Phaplu (2,380 m), the administrative center of Solu district. The town is home to the Solu Hospital , built with support from Sir Edmund Hillary's Himalayan Trust, and has a small airstrip for scenic mountain flights. Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu (or Flight Option)
Two options are available for the return to Kathmandu. The overland option involves a long but scenic drive back through the middle hills, following the same route in reverse (can be broken into two days if preferred). Alternatively, weather permitting, you can take a scenic mountain flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu (approximately 35 minutes, additional cost), offering spectacular aerial views of the Himalayan peaks. The Phaplu airstrip sits in a dramatic mountain setting, making for an exciting takeoff. Upon arrival in Kathmandu , transfer to your hotel. The evening is free for shopping in Thamel or visiting cultural sites. Enjoy a farewell dinner celebrating your Pikey Peak achievement.

Transfer to International Airport for Final Departure
After breakfast, you are transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey.
